All-on-four vs All-on-six

Abstract

As técnicas de all-on-four e all-on-six consistem na reabilitação da maxila e da mandíbula edêntula através da colocação de quatro ou seis implantes, permitindo a colocação de uma prótese com 12 a 14 dentes imediatamente no dia da cirurgia. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão de literatura integrativa sobre as diferenças entre all-on-four e all-on-six, as suas vantagens e desvantagens e conhecer qual é a melhor técnica para a maxila e mandibula. Foi realizada uma pesquisa na base de dados de publicações científicas PUBMED usando a combinação dos seguintes termos científicos: all on four, all on six, four implants, six implants e edentolous. A pesquisa identificou 225 estudos, dos quais 18 foram considerados relevantes para este estudo. Estes estudos forneceram dados importantes, concluindo-se que a técnica de all-on-four possui mais benefícios quando direcionada para a mandibula ao contrário que all-on-six que apresenta mais benefícios para a maxila. Isto depende também de fatores como o tipo de prótese a ser utilizada sobre os implantes, os materiais de elaboração da prótese, a cobertura palatina na prótese, uso de barra, diâmetro dos implantes, a superfície dos implantes, entre outros.

The all on four and all on six techniques consist of rehabilitating the edentulous maxilla and mandible by placing four or six implants, allowing the placement of a prosthesis with 12 to 14 teeth immediately on the day of surgery. The aim of this study was to perform an integrative literature review on the differences between all on four and all on six, their advantages and disadvantages, and to know which is the best technique for the maxilla and mandible. A search was performed in the PUBMED scientific publications database using the combination of the following scientific terms: all on four, all on six, four implants, six implants and edentolous. The search identified 225 studies, of which 18 were considered relevant to this study. These studies provided important data, concluding that the all-on-four technique has more benefits when directed to the mandible as opposed to all-on-six which has more benefits for the maxilla. This also depends on factors such as the type of prosthesis to be used on the implants, the materials used to make the prosthesis, the palatal coverage in the prosthesis, the use of a bar, the diameter of the implants, the surface of the implants, among others.
