A importância do Mock-up na estética do sorriso

Abstract

Introdução: Atualmente, a estética nos tratamentos dentários restaurativos e protéticos é um dos aspetos mais importantes. Podemos utilizar o mock-up que é um molde intraoral de resina composta que replica o projeto protético e serve como guia para o tratamento. Objetivos: Este trabalho visa investigar, com base na literatura, a importância do mock-up na estética do sorriso, mas também compreender a evolução digital do mock-up, o digital smile design. Materiais e Métodos: Pesquisa realizada na base de dados PubMed utilizando a combinação de diferentes palavras-chave: (“Dental esthetic AND Tooth”), (“Dental esthetic AND Reproducibility of results”), (“Computer-aided Design AND Workflow”), (“Dental esthetic AND Computer-aided Design AND Workflow”) e (“Dental esthetic AND Models dental”). Resultados: Foram identificados no total 4,524 artigos na base de dados PubMed e no fim da triagem, 18 artigos foram incluídos para análise qualitativa. Discussão: O mock-up, técnica fácil e eficiente permitirá um diagnóstico e planos de tratamento com uma maior previsibilidade dos resultados. Isto será feito de acordo com os desejos viáveis do paciente. Deve ser o mais preciso possível, para que o paciente possa visualizar como será o seu futuro sorriso. Esta técnica, embora seja uma ferramenta essencial, pode ser combinada com o DSD, seu análogo virtual. Conclusão: O mock-up é um instrumento essencial para os tratamentos estéticos e protéticos. Permite-nos ser tão fiáveis quanto possível sobre as expectativas do paciente, mas também servir de guia para a futura prótese. Combinado com o seu equivalente virtual, o DSD, permite obter um excelente resultado estético.

Introduction: Today, esthetics in restorative and prosthetic dental treatments is one of the most important aspects. To respect the esthetic aspect, we must meet the patient's demands and expectations. We can use mock-up to help us in these situations. It is a composite resin intraoral mold that replicates the prosthetic design and serves as a guide for the treatment but is also crucial for the esthetic treatment. Objectives: This integrative review aims to investigate, based on the literature, the importance of the mock-up in smile aesthetics, but also to understand the digital evolution of the mock-up, the digital smile design. Materials and Methods: Search conducted in the PubMed database using a combination of different keywords: (“Dental esthetic AND Tooth”), (“Dental esthetic AND Reproducibility of results”), (“Computer-aided Design AND Workflow”), (“Dental esthetic AND Computer-aided Design AND Workflow”) e (“Dental esthetic AND Models dental”). Results: A total of 4,524 articles were identified in the PubMed database. At the end of the screening, 18 articles were included for qualitative analysis. Discussion: The mock-up, easy and efficient technique will allow a diagnosis and treatment plans with a greater predictability of results. This will be done according to the feasible wishes of the patient. It should be as accurate as possible, so that the patient can visualize what his or her future smile will look like. This technique, while an essential tool, can be combined with DSD, its virtual analog. Conclusion: The mock-up is an essential tool for esthetic and prosthetic treatments. It allows us to be as reliable as possible about the patient's expectations, but also to serve as a preparatory guide for the future prosthesis. Combined with its virtual counterpart, the DSD, it allows for an optimal esthetic result.
