Problemas dentários que podem ser motivo de bullying nas crianças e adolescentes

Abstract

Introdução : O bullying é definido por forma de violência caracterizado como um comportamento negativo que acontece duma maneira repetitiva e intencionalmente pode ser verbal, física e/ou psicológica. As causas podem ser advindas com o tempo ou por causa genética. Objetivo: Determinar se existe relação entre a estética dentaria e o bullying nas crianças e adolescentes. Materiais e Métodos: Realizou-se uma busca na base PubMed (2015–2025), incluindo estudos originais em inglês, de acesso livre, que tratam o tema do bullying e da estética dentária. Excluíram-se revisões, artigos fora do período e artigos que não abordassem o tema visado. Resultados: no total de 14 artigos, a maioria afirma uma relação entre o bullying e estética dentária (cárie, amelogénese imperfeita e maloclusão). O bruxismo não tem relação direta com o bullying. Discussão: há 4 artigos confirmam que há relação entre a cárie dentária e o bullying, mas 2 artigos concluem o contrário. Por causa de falta de estudos que relacionam os problemas dentarias que podem provocar uma situação de bullying nas crianças e adolescentes, decidimos fazer um questionário para avaliar e tirar a opinião das crianças e adolescentes sobre o tema. Conclusão: a relação entre a estética dentaria e o bullying é difícil de ser determinada, e é por isso, que o número de estudos sobre este tema são poucos.

Introduction: Bullying is defined as a form of violence characterized as negative behavior that occurs in a repetitive manner and intentionally can be verbal, physical and/or psychological. The causes may come with time or genetic cause. Objective: Determination if there is a relationship between dental aesthetics and bullying in children and adolescents. Materials and Methods: A search was did in the PubMed database (2015-2025), including original studies in English, open access, which deal with the subject of bullying and dental aesthetics. Reviews, articles outside the period and articles that did not address the subject were excluded. Results: in a total of 14 articles, most claim a relationship between bullying and dental esthetics (caries, imperfection and malocclusion). Bruxism is not directly related to bullying. Discussion: there are 4 articles confirm that there is a relationship between dental caries and bullying, but 2 articles conclude otherwise. Because of the lack of studies that relate the dental problems that can cause a bullying situation in children and adolescents, we decided to make a questionnaire to evaluate and take the opinion of children and adolescents on the subject. Conclusion: the relationship between dental aesthetics and bullying is difficult to be determined, and that’s why the number of studies on this subject are few.
