Síndrome da boca ardente: eficácia das diferentes opções terapêuticas no tratamento e alívio da dor Revisão sistemática integrativa

Abstract

Introdução: A Síndrome da Boca Ardente é uma condição complexa, multifatorial, que afeta a qualidade de vida dos pacientes, cujo diagnóstico e tratamento representam ainda um desafio. O estudo e análise das diferentes opções terapêuticas atualmente disponíveis são, assim, importantes para uma melhor compreensão e otimização das abordagens que visam um tratamento eficaz e o alívio da dor. Objetivo: Efetuar uma revisão sistemática da literatura científica existente, acerca da eficácia dos diferentes tratamentos disponíveis. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática de acordo com as regras PRISMA nas bases de dados PubMed, Google Scholar e SciELO. Os critérios de inclusão foram: estudos dos últimos 10 anos, “Full Text” e “Randomized Controlled Trial”. Foram incluídos ainda 10 estudos não randomizados, como revisões, estudos de caso e estudos retrospetivos, Free Full Text, desde 2015. Resultados: A análise dos 31 estudos, permitiu uma compreensão abrangente da eficácia das diferentes opções terapêuticas no tratamento e alívio da dor da Síndrome da Boca Ardente, destacando-se, nesta análise, a superioridade da Terapia a laser de baixa intensidade (LLLT). Discussão: A complexidade da doença e a heterogeneidade nas respostas dos pacientes aos tratamentos, foram o elemento comum a todos os Estudos, reforçando a importância dos fatores individuais na SBA. Conclusão: Por um lado, torna-se evidente a necessidade de uma abordagem integrada e individualizada no tratamento da Síndrome da Boca Ardente. Por outro, a pesquisa contínua e a cooperação multidisciplinar são fatores essenciais para entender a natureza multifatorial da SBA.

Introduction: Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is a complex, multifactorial condition that affects patients' well-being and whose diagnosis and treatment are still a challenge. The study and analysis of the different therapeutic options currently available are therefore important for a better understanding and optimization of approaches aimed at effective treatment and pain relief. Aim: To carry out a systematic review of the existing scientific literature on the efficacy of the different treatments available. Materials and Methods: A systematic review was carried out according to PRISMA rules in the PubMed, Google Scholar and SciELO databases, using key words. The inclusion criteria were: studies from the last 10 years, “Full Text” and “Randomized Controlled Trial”. We also included 10 non-randomized studies, such as reviews, case studies and retrospective studies, Free Full Text, from 2015. Results: The analysis of the 31 studies, provided a comprehensive understanding of the efficacy of different therapeutic options in the treatment and pain relief of Burning Mouth Syndrome, highlighting in this analysis the superiority of Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LLLT). Discussion: The complexity of the disease and the heterogeneity of patients' responses to treatment were the common element in all the studies, reinforcing the importance of individual factors in BMS. Conclusion: On one hand, the need for an integrated and individualized approach to the treatment of Burning Mouth Syndrome is evident. On the other hand, ongoing research and multidisciplinary cooperation are essential factors in understanding the multifactorial nature of BMS.
